Privacy Policy
Last updated 16 July 2026
The Indosphere is an independent online magazine on Indian civilization, published by private individuals based in India. This policy explains what information we collect when you visit theindosphere.com, how we use it, and the choices you have. Questions? Write to theindosphere@gmail.com.
Information we collect
You can read The Indosphere without creating an account or giving us any personal information.
- Newsletter. If you subscribe to the Weekly Dispatch, we collect the email address you provide, solely to send you the newsletter. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email.
- Technical data. Like most websites, our hosting and security providers automatically receive standard technical information — such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages you view — to keep the site secure and running.
Cookies and advertising
We use Google AdSense to display advertising, which is how we fund the writing and keep the site free to read. Google and its advertising partners may use cookies to serve and measure ads, including ads personalised to your interests based on your previous visits to this and other websites.
You can control or opt out of personalised advertising through Google Ads Settings, aboutads.info, or youronlinechoices.eu. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate traffic — for example, which essays are read and where visitors arrive from — so we can improve what we publish. Google Analytics sets cookies and processes this data on our behalf. Analytics and advertising cookies are only set after you accept them in our cookie notice; you can change your choice at any time via “Cookie settings” in the footer, opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on, or block cookies in your browser.
How we use information
We use the information above to operate and improve the site, to send the newsletter if you have subscribed, to display advertising, and to keep the site secure.
Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the service providers that help us run the magazine — for example Google (advertising and analytics), Brevo (our newsletter provider), and our hosting and content services — and only as needed to provide those services.
Your choices and rights
You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time, and you can control cookies through your browser and the advertising links above. To ask what personal information we hold, or to have it corrected or deleted, email theindosphere@gmail.com.
Children
The Indosphere is intended for a general adult audience and is not directed at children.
International visitors
We are based in India, and our service providers may process data in other countries. By using the site, you understand that your information may be handled outside your country of residence.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last revised.
